Abstract

The research aims to investigate how Work-Life Balance Practices act as catalysts for Job Engagement and as effective measures in reducing Turnover Intention. By examining these dynamics, the study seeks to provide insights into the mechanisms through which organizations can enhance employee commitment and well-being while mitigating turnover risks. Methodology – A quantitative study was conducted. The data was collected by distributing questionnaires to 233 executive employees in Infopark, Kochi. Research Findings - Interestingly, the study found a link between work-life issues and intentions to leave one's job and to engage in it. Employee inclination to leave is also connected with job engagement.  Originality – WLB, work engagement, and turnover intention are the three study variables that are all holistically related. Organisational inferences in the Kochi environment - Work-life balance (WLB) initiatives must be put into place inside companies in order to promote employees' well-being, which will eventually increase engagement and retention. These results, which were obtained from Malaysian executives, provide practitioners with practical advice on how to create a supportive work environment. Research Limitations and Implications - The majority of the sample population consisted of individuals from the millennial generation, potentially introducing variances in their perceptions of work-life balance compared to those of more mature adults.

Dr. Sonia Elizebeth Thomas, Assistant Professor, FISAT Business School, Angamaly

A post-graduate in Business (MBA) and a graduate in Mathematics (B.Sc.), Dr. Sonia Elizebeth Thomas teaches in the domain of Human Resource Management. She has presented papers in HR in national and international conferences. She is awarded with her doctorate in management studies, in the stream of Human Resource Management. She has many publications to her credit in National/International Journals of repute. Dr. Sonia Elizebeth Thomas is an academic professional with more than 13 years of teaching and research experience all through PG level. Her interest areas include HR, Quantitative Techniques and Operations Research.

Dr. Jins George, Associate Professor, Santhigiri Institute of Management, Thodupuzha

Dr. Jins George completed his Ph.D from MKU in the area of Human resource management, he is an MBA holder with specializations in HR and Marketing from DIST, MSW from Bharathiar University and qualified NET. He has more than 12 years of experience in teaching and industry. He delivers expert talk and trainings on diverse management topics to the students of different educational institutions. He is also an entrepreneur who started Altro- Academic learning training & research organisation which is catering different services to Indian education sector. He has taught courses like Business Law, Management Information System, Advanced Strategic Management, International Business, Human Resource Management, Management of Training and Development, Environment and Business etc. He has proven his expertise in research field with valuable publications in national and international journals. He has presented papers in many research related conferences in and across India.

Dr. A J Joshua, Professor, FISAT Business School, Angamaly

Dr. A J Joshua possesses 28 years of excellent experience in academics and industry with relevant knowledge and competency in teaching, research and management practice. He possesses proven track record in academics with awards and accolades received from various institutions including ‘Best Teacher Award’ from Federal Institute of Science and Technology in the year 2019 and A++ performance rating from Manipal Institute of Management, Manipal University where he was employed earlier. He is an External evaluator for PhD open defence & viva voce for various universities. He is also a recognised research guide who has produced Ph.Ds for Bharathiar University. He had published several articles in reputed national and international journals which were impactful as proven by their high number of citations. His areas of research and teaching interests are Services Operations, Retailing, Consumer Behavior and Cross-Cultural Management.
