This review paper delves into India's diplomatic efforts within the Indian Ocean Region (IOR), particularly focusing on its maritime engagement with neighbouring countries. By examining both bilateral and multilateral initiatives, the paper aims to uncover how these endeavours have contributed to cooperation, security enhancement, and economic development in the region. Through case studies and empirical analysis, it scrutinizes the trajectory of India's maritime interactions with nations like Sri Lanka, Maldives, Bangladesh, and Myanmar. Moreover, it sheds light on crucial areas of collaboration, hurdles faced, and prospects for deeper cooperation. This comprehensive analysis offers valuable insights into India's evolving role and relationships in the IOR, providing a nuanced understanding of its maritime diplomacy.
