Abstract

One of the waste problems is the emergence of leachate which can pollute the environment so processing must be done. Kebon Kongok Regional Final Processing Site has a Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) with anaerobic, facultative, and maturation treatment processes where bacteria are needed in the treatment process to decompose waste. The results of testing on BOD and COD at the inlet and outlet of WWTP did not show optimal reduction results. The BOD content in the WWTP inlet is 2763 mg / L and the outlet is 2483 mg / L while the COD inlet is 9500 mg / L and the outlet is 6500 mg / L. Aerators installed to meet the oxygen needs needed by bacteria in decomposing wastewater have not optimally reduced BOD and COD.  The calculation of detention time in each pond is appropriate, but the number of waste-decomposing bacteria continues to decrease from the inlet to the WWTP outlet.  The main cause of non-optimal WWTP performance is improper bacterial growth as decomposing waste. Insecticide spraying in landfills leaves residues on leachate, which is suspected to inhibit bacterial growth in WWTP ponds.
