This research aims to analyze what is the form of legal protection for people whose land is affected by development for the public interest, are the current regulations sufficient to provide legal protection for people who own land rights who are directly affected by development for the public interest and what are the obstacles that arise in the process of land acquisition for development purposes? general. By using normative-empirical legal research methods. The results of this research show that the form of legal protection for people whose land is affected by development for the public interest is that the government must provide adequate compensation for the community because the taking of land rights must be balanced with appropriate compensation. The regulations currently in force are still not effective in providing protection due to factors such as the incompatibility of the amount of compensation and also because of the many derivative regulations under it or implementing regulations. The obstacles that often occur in land procurement in the field involve the amount of compensation value and also regarding the status of land ownership, where the land comes from inherited land.
