Abstract

Community social workers seek to create an inclusive atmosphere in which inhabitants feel integrated and empowered. They understand that people can work together to improve their conditions by leveraging their expertise and skills to solve problems and effect change. Social professionals have a wide range of opportunities in community development. Some work directly with individuals, couples, or groups. Others operate at the local level, while others work for national or international organizations. They can work for social service agencies, non-profits, or grassroots organizations.
