Abstract

Background of study: It is important for us to realize that the habit of wearing earphone has a negative impact on ear problems. A random sample method was used for the research. To minimize hearing loss, earphone should be avoided if possible and use should be limited to less than 1 hour day, at a lower volume. Objectives of study: 1.To assess the existing knowledge regarding hazards of long term use of earphones among adolescents of selected colleges of Karad city before intervention. 2. To assess the effectiveness of planned teaching program regarding knowledge of hazards of long term use of earphones among adolescents. 3. To associate level of posttest knowledge regarding hazards of long term use of earphone with all socio demographic variable. Research methodology: In the present study qualitative approach was used, pre experimental research one group pre and posttest design was used. Random sampling technique was used. Study setting in Karad taluka and enrolled 11th and 12th standard student of selected college in present study. Result: Sixteen out of sixty students have poor knowledge and forty four out of sixty students have average knowledge in pre-test. After planned teaching program in post-test all students have good knowledge of hazards of long term use of earphones among adolescent.
