The Changing Nature of India-Nepal Relations: A General Overview with Special Reference to China

Abstract

In the international context in the twenty-first century, rigid patterns of national sovereignty are increasingly based on relations of economic mutual interdependence. In such a situation, both India and Nepal need to find new bases of cooperation along with their national and regional patterns. Both countries should decide their foreign policy keeping in mind their national security and national interests. Only then they will be able to promote multidimensional national and international interests independently. In view of the current contemporary scenario and changes in the politics of South Asia region, there are emerging dimensions, challenges and possibilities in India-Nepal-China relations.

इक्कीसवीं सदी में अंतराष्ट्रीय संदर्भ में राष्ट्रीय प्रभुसŸाा के कठोर प्रतिमान आर्थिक रूप से पारस्परिक अन्र्तनिर्भरता के सम्बन्धों पर आधारित होते जा रहे हैं। ऐसी स्थिति में भारत व नेपाल दोनों को अपने राष्ट्रीय, क्षेत्रीय प्रतिमानों के साथ-साथ सहयोग के नवीन आधार ढूंढने की भी आवश्यकता है। दोनों देश अपनी राष्ट्रीय सुरक्षा व राष्ट्रीय हितों को ध्यान में रखकर विदेश नीति का निर्धारण करें। तभी वे स्वतंत्र रूप से बहुआयामी राष्ट्रीय व अन्र्तराष्ट्रीय हितों का संवर्द्धन करने में सक्षम हो सकेंगे। वर्तमान समसामायिक परिदृश्य तथा दक्षिण एशिया क्षेत्र की राजनीति में परिवर्तन के मद्देनजर भारत-नेपाल¬-चीन सम्बन्धों में उभरते आयाम, चुनौतियां व संभावनाएं मौजूद हैं।
