The Activities of Local Development Investment Funds in several Countries and Lessons Learned for Vietnam

This paper presents a comprehensive set of recommendations tailored for Vietnam's approach to Development Investment Funds (DIFs) by drawing insights from the experiences of China, India, Colombia, Tunisia, Thailand, and Malaysia. The study underscores the need for a flexible approach to DIF models, highlighting the gradual evolution of models in well-established markets that are customized to specific development conditions and legal systems. This adaptability fosters competition, accommodates diverse investment products, and aligns with the dynamic financial market trends shaped by liberalization and globalization. Overall, this paper provides a comprehensive roadmap for Vietnam to strategically implement and manage DIFs, drawing upon a rich tapestry of international experiences to ensure effective, adaptive, and successful DIF operations in the local context.a
