The Status of Hindi in Nagaland

Nagaland is one of the northeastern states of India. The administrative language of Nagaland is English, although Nagaland has around 17 tribal languages which are part of non- schedule language list as mentioned in census 2011. But none of them could be considered as an official language of this state. As we know that the official languages of India are Hindi and English. According to the census 2011, Hindi is the most spoken language of India with 43.6% of total population of India. It is a language of business, trade, media, communication, social media, jobs and becoming a need of an hour to accept, learn and promote Hindi in Nagaland. Now a days, central and state governments are promoting it in various ways.
