Plagiarism and Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy
The RESEARCH REVIEW International Journal of Multidisciplinary is committed to upholding the highest standards of academic integrity, originality, and ethical publishing. In accordance with the UGC (Promotion of Academic Integrity and Prevention of Plagiarism in Higher Educational Institutions) Regulations, 2018, the journal follows a strict and transparent policy to prevent plagiarism and ensure the responsible use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) tools in scholarly writing.
Plagiarism Policy (Acceptable Similarity: 10% or Below)
Definition of Plagiarism
Plagiarism refers to the use of another person’s ideas, words, or creative work without proper acknowledgment. It includes, but is not limited to:
- Copying text, figures, or tables without appropriate citation
- Reusing one’s own previously published work (self-plagiarism) without disclosure
- Using online or secondary sources without proper attribution
Types of Plagiarism
- Direct Plagiarism: Verbatim copying without quotation or citation
- Self-Plagiarism: Reuse of previously published work without proper reference
- Mosaic Plagiarism: Combining content from multiple sources without adequate acknowledgment
- Accidental Plagiarism: Unintentional failure to cite or paraphrase correctly
Detection and Prevention
Pre-Publication Screening:
All submitted manuscripts are screened using plagiarism detection software such as Turnitin or equivalent tools. Manuscripts exceeding the acceptable similarity threshold as per UGC guidelines will be returned to authors for revision.
Peer Review Process:
Editors and reviewers remain vigilant in identifying potential plagiarism. Suspected cases will be communicated to authors for clarification or correction.
Post-Publication Actions:
If plagiarism is identified after publication, appropriate measures will be taken, including:
- Retraction of the article
- Notification to the author’s affiliated institution or funding agency
- Issuance of a formal plagiarism notice
Reporting Plagiarism
Suspected cases of plagiarism may be reported to the editorial office at: editor@rrjournals.com
Author Responsibilities
- Ensure originality of the manuscript and proper citation of all sources
- Disclose and appropriately reference any reused material
- Avoid simultaneous submission of the same manuscript to multiple journals
Artificial Intelligence (AI) Policy (Maximum Acceptable AI-Generated Content: 15%)
Use of AI Tools in Manuscript Preparation
Authors may use AI-based tools (e.g., language editing or grammar assistance software) strictly as supportive aids, subject to the following conditions:
Transparency
The use of AI tools must be clearly disclosed in the Acknowledgment or Methods section
Authors should specify the tools used and their purpose (e.g., language editing, structural suggestions)
Authorship and Accountability
AI tools must not be listed as authors under any circumstances
Authors remain fully responsible for the accuracy, integrity, and originality of all submitted content
Originality and Verification
AI-generated content must not contain plagiarized or unverified material
Authors are responsible for reviewing, validating, and fact-checking all AI-assisted content
Ethical Use
AI should support, not replace, scholarly analysis, interpretation, or critical thinking
The intellectual contribution and research integrity must be maintained by the authors
