The use of nature and symbol has become a source of expressing things in the poems since beginning. We can trace them from the anonymous poems like ‘Bewolf’ to the numberless poems of the present time. The use of nature and symbol is available in the poems of Chaucer, Spencer, Shakespeare, Milton, Donne, Wordsworth, Byron, Keats, Shelley, Herrik, Burns, Blake, Frost, etc. etc. In other words, it can be said that very few poets are devoid of the use of these two primary sources in their poems. Robert Frost is a close observer of nature and he depicts their essential concerns. Frost uses Nature to a great extent in his poetry, and it is the nature of New England. He always portrays Nature in a positive concern and never finds anything harmful in it. Frost also uses symbolism in his poetry. It is a literary device where symbols work to represent ideas. In symbolism, the symbols align with the overall tone and theme of the poem. Robert Frost takes very familiar objects as the subject matter of his poetry but makes them highly suggestive and symbolic to represent his ideas, concepts or feelings.
