Abstract

In recent years, intermittent fasting has gained significant attention in the health world. It is a dietary regimen that involves alternates of cycles of fasting and eating. There is enough evidence which support potential health benefits of intermittent fasting in weight reduction, improved metabolic functions and longevity. It has been practised for centuries in different cultures and religions There are several methods of intermittent fasting which differs in terms of duration and frequency of fasting time. Each method has its own benefits. It is important to note that there is no one size fits all approach. Individuals vary with different fasting schedules and find themselves what works best for them. Intermittent fasting holds important place as a dietary strategy but it is also very important to approach it with an informed decision making and overall focus to achieve optimum health and well-being.
